Summer has begun

Today was a nice 74 degrees but in the sun it felt much hotter than that. We went to my cousin's baby shower which was situated around a pool. The kids took this opportunity to break down me down until I finally gave in and let them get in. Of course we waited til the last gift was opened but, as always I'm a sucker for the sad face and they know it!

I made it.... Bow Flip Flops

Here is a follow up to my earlier Bow Flip Flop tutorial originally posted by Live FABULESS. I opted for the permanent bow versus the interchangeable one because I just thought it was dangerous for my 3 year old to have a piece of metal rubbing up against her foot.

I'm excited to show you how they turned out! Now, you didn't think I'd make them without adding some super cute bottle caps, did you? I'd say this was on the easy to medium scale. If you don't know how to make a bow it would be a little difficult but, if you already have matching hair bows you could make the interchangeable flip flops very easily.

The Turbie Twist

My mom won a Turbie Twist at cousin Angelina's wedding shower and gave it to me. The Princess saw it and said" It's mine? thank you mommy." so, of course now I need to buy one for myself since she decided this one's hers!

It's official! I'm a farmer.

I couldn't wait to move into a house where I could grow my own vegetables and I can now check that off of my list of things to do.
A few months ago my husband bought me some Tomato plants for my birthday and today we got to finally taste the fruits of our labor.
Here is our first Tomato of the season. Isn't it beautiful?
And this is what I made from my home grown Tomatoes.
My famous Pico de Gallo!

I'm thinking about planting some Pumpkins but, I just read that if I want them ready by Halloween I've gotta do it now. Well, see how those turn out.

My Journey to become me again only better.

When I was younger I was very active and didn't even realize it. When you don't have car you either have to walk or ride a bike and that's exactly what I did. Cut to almost 20 years later and 3 kids. I'm now working from home sitting at a computer or table most of the day or night. I rarely get enough exercise to stay at my ideal weight let alone LOSE weight so, I've begun a journey to become me again only better.

I just started taking a Zumba class and the first day was hilarious! When you haven't moved like that in 4 years the first time is a bit ridiculous. I couldn't stop laughing at myself. The second day was easier but, it still kicked my butt. I walk on the days I don't have class and hope to be able to find more time to do the things I once loved so much like going Salsa dancing with my husband. That is after all how we met and if we can't do what we once loved so much just because I can't shake it then, something is definitely wrong with this picture.

Exercise is only half of the equation. I have gone on a diabetic low fat diet or rather lifestyle. I was originally put on this diet when I was pregnant with my 3rd baby and I lost about 2 lbs a week with only a daily walk for exercise. If I could do it then, I can do it now. Here is a good read for inspiration. Whoever said a picture is worth a thousand words must have been talking about these j.c.grace girls: The Importance of Visualization

Her first crafty craft

My little princess is sure to follow in her Nanas footsteps. She made her very first craft at 3 years old. She beaded a colorful bracelet and of course she made one for herself and her Nana! Not mommy but, Nana.
( She actually said she was going to make it for her customer) I guess she's expecting that her Nana will be paying for it LOL!.
Next stop a pink Hello Kitty sewing machine!
