Easy Peasy Advent calander

Last year Nana came to the rescue with a beautiful Advent calender she made for the kiddos. I was lagging in the crafty department but, had I thought of this or seen this tutorial for an easy advent calender from The Mother Huddle, via Tip Junkie I could've done this in no time.
Now you all know that I don't sew so, instead I would purchase little sacks from Fabric Barn (a local craft store) and  tie them with the ties that come with the bags. Soooo easy! I may still make this and hang Nana's advent calender too, it's too beautiful not to.
Now is the time to start your Christmas projects. Don't get behind like I always do and try to cram them all in the last week before Christmas!

Oh My Daddy

Our little Princess loves to create..hmmm. I wonder where she gets that from? Anyway while she was making a Father's Day card for my husband I caught her singing this little diddy. She just cracks me up! If you've ever watched Spongebob you may remember the episode where Plankton sings to his computer wife Karen "Oh my Karen, Oh my Karen, Ohhh my computer wife Karen" well, Gracie had just seen that episode and made it her own... Have a listen.

Gracie making a card for Father's day and singing her special Daddy song to the tune of "Oh My Karen" by plankton from Spongebob.

Advent Calender (Nana Made it)

I always have great ideas (or at least I think they are) but, never seem to either find the time or have the right supplies on hand to get them made. I found a great post for The Lazy mom's guide to making an advent calender but, Christmas is less than a week away and I can't justify starting a new project this close to Christmas when I have so many other projects to finish.
This is where Nana comes to the rescue! She sewed together this beautiful heirloom Advent calender that I will be able to use for years to come.It hangs on the wall in the living room at a height perfect for the kids. I will stuff each day with small candy canes for them to pull out as they count down to Christmas. The kids love it as much as I do and I didn't even have to make it! even better hahaha.
 Thanks Mom. You Rock!

Thanksgiving Gracie style

The Princess was full of laughs and giggles while playing with her baby cousin Owen. I would've taken pics of the boys but they're too cool for pics...whatever!

Halloween 2010

We spent Halloween at my brother-in-laws house this year for their first Halloween party ever!
I painted faces, the kids ate tons of sweets and had a fun trick-or-treating even though only about 5 houses on a 2 block radius were handing out candy! I know. crazy huh!

I scared my little nephews and they wouldn't come near me till the end of the night when they finally asked me to paint their faces LOL! I told them I'd do it another day when I didn't look so scary.
Here is my little commando throwing up what appears to be GANG SIGNS! What the heck?! I don't know about this one. He's always keeping me on my toes.
Here the Mad scientist screams in excitement as he looks at his creation... ME!
Awww, look at the little cuties. There's Belle, a dead bumble bee and my sweet little Coraline who wouldn't keep her eyes closed long enough for the me to paint buttons on her eyes.
My little witchy poo niece who's as sweet as can be. She could never be an ugly witch! She specifically asked me to come paint her face for her party. Aww, I love her so much!
And the big girls who I can't believe got so big all of a sudden. Seems like just yesterday they were dressing up like Disney Princesses and now they're beautiful young ladies.
It was a fun Halloween but, next year we'll stay a little closer to home since it will be on a school day. The kids really want to pass candy out to trick-or-treaters next year anyway.
What did you do for Halloween this year?

The night before Halloween

It's tradition in our house to carve our pumpkins the night before Halloween and this year we decided to add roasting the seeds to our tradition. The first batch didn't work out so well or rather mommy burnt them. The second batch was delicious!
 Here are the burnt seeds
and here is the good batch. Yummmmmmmy.
You can watch my little monsters scooping out the goop from their pumpkins here.

Mommy 911

So, I’ve always prided myself on being the most well prepared mom on the block from having a spare change of clothes and shoes for each kid in the car to a well stocked and up to date first aid kit not only in the house but in the car as well, that was until a few days ago when IT happened!
We were out and ready to come home from a great Easter/ Birthday Party (yup, that’s how we roll) and IT happened….We were just about to get into the car for a long ride home when I took a look at my oldest son and his eyes looked like he had stuffed a bunch of cotton into the inside corners. They were so large and puffy that it seemed as though the space between them was all even with no dimension. I was shocked and asked if he had fallen and hit the bridge of his nose but, he nodded and said “no”. He had no idea what I was talking about. Well, after much proding I found out that during the Easter egg hunt he had rubbed up against a plant and had a scratch on his arm from it. He was having an allergic reaction!!! OMG! To the First Aid kit I ran but, I stood there shocked and in dismay.
In all my infinite motherly wisdom I had somehow forgotten to add the mother of all medicines to the Car’s First Aid kit. Yes, even the most well prepared mother on the block had missed adding BENDRYL to the First Aid kit!!!
Luckily I thought quickly and ran back to the house and asked another mother if she had any and, of course she DID!
What my friends does this lesson teach us? That even though we think we’re perfectly prepared, we’re not! Now, I must go and double check the First Aid kit in the house as well as I’m sure you will do after reading this too. Wink Wink.

Check out "The Ouch Pouch". I just stumbled upon this shop on Etsy and really coulda used one of these!!!LOL!
