Just after Easter we made a family trip to see Grandma in the desert for a few days. It wasn't a planned trip but I'm glad we made it. We drove in the evening so, by the time we got there the kids were hungry for dinner. We thought we'd find a Denny's or something relatively inexpensive but as we drove down highway 111 I began to remember all of the great places that were around then, we came upon a new shopping and dining spot called "The River" ooo it's fabulous and my husband saw the Cheesecake Factory and it was allover with after that. We just had to go there for dinner...What happened to Denny's?
On our way out they had to stop and pretend to shoot this Giant pig statue in front of a BBQ resteraunt
The next day the kids were up bright and early and ready for some pool time and Daddy, well he was just ready for naptime.
Here is where the story takes a turn. There are no more pictures because Grandma got really sick at dinner and had to be taken to the hospital where she stayed for a week. We later found out that she had a heart attack as recently as 2 weeks before but, didn't even know it. She was just extremely tired and didn't really get out of bed. Her legs were so swollen that we basically told her she needed to go to the hospital and she didn't resist. She knew she needed to go.
She ended up having an angiogram and had stints put in. She is doing well now but, I'm just glad we were there when we were. You never know what curve ball life is going to throw your way. You just hope that you're doing the right thing when it happens. I just felt the need to go after speaking with my Aunt the day before we left. She had mentioned how grandma wasn't feeling so hot and wasn't wanting to get out of bed...well you would too if you had just had a heart attack. If you have a feeling that you should be doing something and can't get rid of that feeling then, you better know that that is God leading you and you better follow. I did and I'm glad I did.
We will make another trip when school is out and this time we'll have more picks including a healthier grandma!

Easter 2011
WOW! has a month almost passed since my last post??? I've been so incredibly busy with work and the kids and my nephews (I'll tell you all about that later) I haven't had a minute to post.
Easter started of with a drizzly morning but, that didn't stop us from making it to church and boy was it a great service! There is something special about that one day a year that everyone makes it to church and what is even more special is what happens at the end of service. It always amazes me how many people give their lives to Christ that day and I pray that all of those who did find the support and love they need during this crucial time.
After such a great service we made our way to Auntie Erica's house for an Easter egg hunt and lunch. Boy was that fun. There was no Spanish speaking clown at this party but, it was just as entertaining. Here are the highlights....

Mommy 911
So, I’ve always prided myself on being the most well prepared mom on the block from having a spare change of clothes and shoes for each kid in the car to a well stocked and up to date first aid kit not only in the house but in the car as well, that was until a few days ago when IT happened!
We were out and ready to come home from a great Easter/ Birthday Party (yup, that’s how we roll) and IT happened….We were just about to get into the car for a long ride home when I took a look at my oldest son and his eyes looked like he had stuffed a bunch of cotton into the inside corners. They were so large and puffy that it seemed as though the space between them was all even with no dimension. I was shocked and asked if he had fallen and hit the bridge of his nose but, he nodded and said “no”. He had no idea what I was talking about. Well, after much proding I found out that during the Easter egg hunt he had rubbed up against a plant and had a scratch on his arm from it. He was having an allergic reaction!!! OMG ! To the First Aid kit I ran but, I stood there shocked and in dismay.
In all my infinite motherly wisdom I had somehow forgotten to add the mother of all medicines to the Car’s First Aid kit. Yes, even the most well prepared mother on the block had missed adding BENDRYL to the First Aid kit!!!
Luckily I thought quickly and ran back to the house and asked another mother if she had any and, of course she DID!
What my friends does this lesson teach us? That even though we think we’re perfectly prepared, we’re not! Now, I must go and double check the First Aid kit in the house as well as I’m sure you will do after reading this too. Wink Wink.
Check out "The Ouch Pouch". I just stumbled upon this shop on Etsy and really coulda used one of these!!!LOL!
